Or are the newest mac minis a little more reliable? Whatever I decide to do I will be buying the AppleCare warranty for sure, so as to make sure this never happens again. Is this common with mac minis? Should I buy another one, or possibly look at iMacs or a MacBook? I would like something that will last longer than two years. They said I was just better off buying a new one, however I'm not so sure if I would want to buy another mac mini, even though it is all I can afford. Without really taking much more of a look at it the genius said it was the logic board and that since I was out of warranty a repair would cost over $300 for parts and labor, not including tax. They attempted starting up the mini using their power adaptor and no dice. So I did just that, I made an apointment at the Apple Store online and went into the store. The person on the phone suggested that I go to an apple store and have a genius look at it. Their best guess was that it was probably the power adaptor, which made sense because if it was a problem in the computer I would probably a noise of some sort (fan or something to that effect). Nothing did work so I called up apple care and they had me try a few different things, but with no success. So I unplugged it, tried several different outlets, and reset the SMC. I walked away for about an hour, and came back to find that my Mini was not only off but would not power back up. Ok, so I came home one day turned on my mac mini and surfed the internet for a little bit.
